Description

Thames House was built between 1929 and 1930 in the neoclassical style. After extensive modernization and rebuilding, it has served as the headquarters of the MI5 domestic intelligence service since 1994.
The plans are by Sir Frank Baines of the Government's Office of Works. Thames House initially served as the headquarters of Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd (ICI), later it was used by the Warburg Library, the International Nickel Company of Canada and the Department of Energy, among others.
